Elite Landscapes Brings Urban Beekeeping to Canada Water

Elite’s grounds maintenance team marks a strong first month at British Land’s landmark London regeneration scheme by expanding its service to include specialist beekeeping.

Elite Landscapes has marked a strong start to its new grounds maintenance contract at Canada Water British Land’s major mixed-use regeneration scheme in south-east London by expanding the scope of works to include specialist urban beekeeping services.

One month into the contract, the company has received positive feedback from British Land’s on-site team for the visible impact already made by its grounds maintenance crew. Elite has now confirmed it will incorporate the site’s existing beekeeping operation, run by independent specialist Apicultural, into its broader service offer.

“We’re really pleased with how positively our first month at Canada Water has gone,” said Nick Ebelthite Head of Maintenance at Elite. “Bringing the beekeeping under our umbrella ensures continuity for the hives, supports a fantastic small specialist business, and reinforces the biodiversity commitments at the heart of the Canada Water masterplan. As we settle in, we’re confident there are even greater improvements to come.”

Managed hives play an important role in supporting urban pollinator populations and contribute to the ecological health of London’s wider green network, making the addition a natural fit for a contract focused on high-quality, sustainable public realm.

Hazel Nancarrow, Client Services Director at British Land, praised the early weeks of the partnership, noting that the Elite team had “got stuck in” and were already delivering “a real impact” on site. She added that ensuring the small specialist beekeeping business remained part of the contract was an important priority for the client team.

Elite Landscapes provides commercial grounds maintenance, soft landscaping and biodiversity-focused services to clients across London and the South East. The Canada Water contract is among the company’s most high-profile London engagements to date.
