Cherkley Court, Leatherhead – Historic garden restoration
Project description
Started in the late 1990s, the restoration of Cherkley Court, the former home of the late Lord Beaverbrook, has been a major project for the Beaverbrook Foundation. http://www.beaverbrookfoundation.org/house.html
Elite Landscapes has been working there since 2004 to restore these magnificent gardens to their former glory and has carried out all of the construction and landscaping work in the gardens.
The sloping site contains numerous flights of steps and Elite Landscapes’ craftsmen have either restored these where possible or constructed new steps to match the existing.
This included the construction of major reinforced concrete structures to incorporate two flights of steps and a large water feature. In total four formal water features have been constructed. The pathways are constructed from Breedon gravel edged with granite setts
The restoration of the Italian Garden and the main planted borders has been completed with the planting of the highest quality trees and shrubs from Von Ehrens and the newly re-laid formal lawns complete the renovation of this classic Victoria garden.
